Don't Get Fooled Again!

As Obama goes around the country in an attempt to gather up support for ObamaCare, I have one message for all Americans: Don’t get fooled again (Okay, I stole this line from the famous Who song, but it is fitting)! Obama is a master at using words and rhetoric to paint not only a different picture, but to portray his image as someone he is not. Yesterday, Obama was in New Hampshire trying to convince Americans that those nasty Republicans are feeding them misinformation, using scare tactics, and are creating the “boogeyman” to destroy his plan. Obama tried to reassure a small turnout "For all the chatter and the yelling and the shouting and the noise, what you need to know is this ... if you do have health insurance, we will make sure that no insurance company or government bureaucrat gets between you and the care you need." He even tried to reassure the elderly by claiming the government will not "basically pull the plug on grandma because we decided that it's too expensive to let her live anymore," and reiterated "We're not talking about cutting Medicare benefits." He also tried to quell everyone’s fear about the public option running private insurers out of business: “As long as they have a good product and the government plan has to sustain itself through premiums and other non-tax revenue, private insurers should be able to compete with the government plan”. As an example, Obama pointed out that UPS and Fed Ex are thriving and the Post Office is losing billions. Let’s not forget Medicare is also going bankrupt. If this is his argument, it should make all Americans weary about supporting a public option. Obama also claimed that the health care reform bill will be budget neutral. Think about all of these statements Obama has made, and anyone thinking he can keep these guarantees and promises are being naïve. Even the Congressional Budget Office says that ObamaCare is not deficit neutral.

As usual, Obama says the right things, but how many times has he said the right thing and turned around and did something else. Obama is good at deceiving the public and preys on gullible Americans that cling to and take his messages as gospel. It is time for Americans to stop listening to all of Obama’s words and look at his actions. Here are some things Obama has already “fooled” the American public with:

  • During the campaign he ran as a centrist and convinced many that he did not agree with socialistic ideas such as spreading the wealth. His policies such as the stimulus, cap and trade, and higher taxes on the wealthy are nothing more than wealth spreading policies.

  • During the Campaign he said he would reduce the size of government and the power of the executive branch that he claimed Bush abused. The only sector growing in this recession is the government and the executive branch has more power than ever before with nearly 50 czars that have absolutely no oversight.
  • He appointed a Supreme Court Justice (Sonia Sotomayor) because she would use “empathy”, but both backed off those words when it became a concern so she would be confirmed.
  • He told Americans if the 787 billion dollar stimulus is not passed unemployment will go over 8 percent (Same scare tactic he is accusing Republicans using on health care reform). He guaranteed the stimulus would save or create millions of jobs. As unemployment approaches 10 percent, the stimulus has yet to create more than a handful of government jobs. Anyone with average intellect could ascertain spending does not create growth and economic stability. Yet Obama still claims the stimulus is an investment and they will get a return of over a dollar on every dollar spent. This is ludicrous.
  • Obama says he does not want the government in control of private sector industries. Not only does the government own auto companies and banks, they continue to fail under their tutelage. He is also placing mandates on the auto industry with new CAFÉ standards and on all carbon emitting companies with cap and trade. If Obama has no interest in mandating and regulating the private sector why are there a dozen or so czars whose jobs are chartered to do this such as the Car, Pay, and Climate Czars.

Obama made his opinions well known about health care in interviews just a few years ago. He stated the United States needs a single payer system, period! He backed off these words at the town hall saying a single payer system will be disruptive. While campaigning for ObamaCare he made it clear that private insurance companies are evil because they make a profit. It is clear that Obama wants to spread those private insurance company’s profits to pay for health care. Obama’s has made his opinions and intentions clear, so please Americans, do not get fooled again by this mans words.
